Danger & Play Podcast Interview: Part 2

I recently sat down to talk with Pete of Manosphere Radio. He had a long list of things to discuss and we had some reader questions to answer. But.

I thought it would be more fun for Pete (and the listeners) to do one of the most fundamental and necessary NLP exercises – that of finding your “home base.” Pete was a good sport and hopefully found the lesson valuable.

The podcast is honestly some of my best stuff ever. We go deep to find out why most men fail and how you can avoid being like most men.

We also talked about a bunch of other things such as:

  • Charisma (what it is and how to get it).
  • Why most men waste their lives.
  • How to feel unshakeable, no matter what life throws at you.
  • Planning (or not planning) for the future.
  • The dark triad silliness.
  • Why it’s better to learn about the Game of Life rather than how to game women.

And much more.

You can listen to the interview below:

In case you missed it: I was also a guest on the Real McQueen show. You can be one of the 7,100+ people to listen to that podcast here.

  • Mark

You’re great on the mic, D & P. Gotta start your own podcast.

    • Danger & Play

Thank you. If the interest is there, I will.

      • anon1

if you do, i’ll line it up right of bill burr’s monday morning podcast, and left of patrice o neals black phillips show and O&A segments

  • http://badgerhut.wordpress.com Badger

Can’t wait to listen to this one on the ride in tomorrow.

    • Danger & Play

Cool, lemme know what you think once you’ve listened to it.

    from THE Interview (part 2)

“…the art of living your life…

    You can direct the flow…
    you’re in control of yourself,
you’re in control of your thoughts,
you’re in control of your emotions…

    Then when something bad happens,
    it just doesn’t matter because
    you’re still in control
    You can still control how
you perceive it when it’s occurring.”

Mike… As Always, You’ve Delivered Greatness Gear in Clarity & Wisdom.

    • Danger & Play

      Thanks, Sam!

Excellent interview, Mike. Lots of wisdom and laid straight. Like how you focused on the importance of building self before mastering all else – “You have to have your base. When you have your base, other things tend to fall into place.” – Word!

    • Danger & Play

Often – thought of course not always – people seek out women as a way to solve some other underlying problem.

Then they bang out 100 women and still feel empty inside.

Maybe it’s better to fill that emptiness first.

  • Tom

I liked the home base thing a lot… How did you develop a habit of practicing your “base” every day?

    • Tom

In addition , is it always an image you bring up now or, just the “state” itself? Thanks man.

      • Danger & Play

Good question. It’s just the state itself. I don’t even know what the original image was. Now it’s strictly a physiological state triggered by my 3 deep breaths performed in a certain way.

    • Danger & Play

Practice it first in private so you don’t feel self-conscious.

Then practice it in semi-private places – say, an empty or nearly-empty park.

Then get to the point where you can trigger the state with someone next to you and they won’t even know what’s happening.

After all, it won’t do you any good if you can only get into state when you’re by yourself. You’ll need to be able to get into state when dealing with other people in the real world.

  • Jason

Mike, great podcast interview!! You made reference to wanting to be in touch with reality without the interference of drugs or alcohol. Are you completely against the use of intoxicants( parties, relaxation etc)? I wasn’t quite sure how to interpret that part of the podcast. thanx JC

    • Danger & Play

Not anti-drug. I am anti-drugs that dulls reality. I am pro-drugs that enhance how you engage with reality.

      Liquor = hide from reality.

Modafinil = become more engaged with reality.

Great interview, mate. Your content has to be my current favourite in terms of useful and actionable writing in the Sphere at the moment.

    Much love from the UK.

    • Danger & Play

You are still my favorite manosphere house guest.

  • CL

Great stuff. I was surprised to hear you were in law school, as I am a law student right now. Did you practice as a lawyer for long?

  • Manny09

Awesome podcast, even better than the one with McQueen.Haha I do admit to not watching the Jordan Belfort vid you posted, but after your description I will download and watch on my commute to work on Monday.

Just out of curiosity, do you have a few other book recommendations as far as arguing, rhetoric, and speaking go? You recommended one on the podcast, and I remember you also recommended “Thank You for Arguing” which I just signed out.

    Thanks for any suggestions.

I signed out Influence by Cialdini as well, which has been recommended by others.

    Thanks for any suggestions.

Mike, for your next post or podcast, I’d like to here about developing a training routine and eating routine. Do you just go buy “starting Strenght” or “the way of the spartan” and follow that? THen once you have the natural base after a few years, then start investigating gear?

  • Brisey

Fantastic interview, the NLP anchoring/triggering section was great.

  • anon1

listening to this and i’m going to implement the homebase nlp thing. that was deep shit man, from the podcast it sounded like pete was a bit surprised when you brought it up but i’m convinced if he practised it, consistently it can really help.

back in the past i used to sort of self /hypnosis NLP [based on some stuff mark cunningham did] which helped a huge amount, but i stopped it after a few months.[other shit got in the way, so i stopped]

i think though anchoring a good state is important

    • anon1

and definitely agree this is some of your best work

    • Danger & Play

Yeah, I sprung it on Pete as a surprise. I didn’t want some interview. I wanted something interactive and something that hadn’t been done before. What he does with it if up to him. It’s been useful for me, though.

  • Student

Hey D&P, I didn’t understand your attitude about the Dark Triad in the podcast. Do you think its all silliness? Do you have to be Dark Triad with girls, or can you actually be a relatively nice dude and still get girls without being manipulative, cold, dark, etc? This is a matter of cognitive dissonance for me.

    • Danger & Play

“Dark Triad” is a terms nerds through around to make them feel dangerous.

      • student

So you dont believe in its necessity?

        • Danger & Play

          No.

  • Yul Brynner

One point you made really struck deep into my brain.
Being elite. Being the best in the world at something. That is an extremely potent attitude to have. That alone (for me) was enough of a topic to do an entire podcast on and all it took was a sentence or two from you.

    *salute*
